Discussion gets better whenposters are provably real.

Verified flair used to be impossible to offer. Only a handful of subs ever verified anyone, because it meant volunteers reviewing strangers' finances by hand. Flairproof does the verifying, your bot sets the flair, and your members engage with posters they can actually believe.

SET UP MY SUB

Message u/flairproof and we do the setup with you: app install, flair mapping, and importing your existing verified list. About ten minutes, free, no commitment.

YOUR AUDIENCE IS NOT THE PRODUCT

The fastest way to kill verified flair is to charge $10 for it.

So we do not. Your subreddit pays nothing, and your members verify free inside our data providers' monthly quotas. In a busy month a check costs about a dollar (we net exactly $1 after processor fees) until the quotas reset. A single sponsor slot on our own success screen keeps the service running. We are not building a paywall between your members and their flair, because verification only raises the quality of a sub when everyone can afford it.

WHAT YOUR SUB GETS

Trust people can see

A verified flair is a claim anyone can check: one click shows the username and tier on flairproof.com. Threads change when the $5M comment, the VC take, and the salary datapoint actually check out, and readers reply differently to posters they can believe.

Stolen proof stops working

Every code is bound to the Reddit account that earned it. When someone posts another person's code, the bot refuses, replies with the real owner, and logs the attempt. Borrowed screenshots have no equivalent defense.

Flair that stays true

Verifications expire after 12 months, and a nightly sync removes flair for anything expired or revoked. Nobody coasts forever on a claim from years ago, and none of the upkeep is your job.

You never handle evidence

Verification happens on flairproof.com. Your mod team sees a decision: this account cleared this tier on this date. No screenshots, no documents, no real names. If your sub already verifies by hand, that job disappears; if it never could, now it can.

You outrank the bot

Revoke any grant, freeze any user so the bot never touches their flair, or vouch for someone by hand. Every automatic decision is visible in your dashboard and reversible by you.

Your verified users carry over

Paste your existing verified list and it imports as grandfathered: tracked in your dashboard, never auto-revoked, no one asked to start over. Adopting Flairproof does not reset your community.

SETUP, START TO FINISH

  1. 1. Install the app. The Flairproof bot is a Devvit app installed from Reddit's own app directory, with permissions Reddit enforces.
  2. 2. Enter your sub's key. We issue one key per subreddit. It authenticates your bot and your dashboard, and you can rotate it any time.
  3. 3. Map your flair. Choose which tiers earn flair in your sub and what each one says. Import your existing verified users. Copy the ready-made automod snippet and wiki page if you want them.
  4. 4. Done. Users verify themselves at flairproof.com and post their code. The bot does the rest, and the nightly sync keeps yesterday's flair honest.

THE QUESTIONS YOU WILL ASK, ANSWERED STRAIGHT

Are you monetizing our members?

No, and the pricing is designed to prove it. Your subreddit pays nothing, ever. Members verify free until our data providers' monthly free quotas run out, and past that a check is priced so we net exactly one dollar after processor fees (about $1.34 by card, about $1.03 in USDC). If we wanted to monetize your audience we would charge $5 or $10 a verification; we do not, because verified flair only works if everyone can afford to wear it. A single sponsor on our success screen keeps the lights on, and paying never changes the outcome of a check.

What will our community say about privacy?

The check never asks for a government ID, a face scan, or an SSN. Lookups show a username, a check, and only the tier the holder chose to show. There is no reverse search: nobody can type a username in and ask if it is verified. Identity details are deleted the moment a verification completes. Every claim is written up on the methodology page, so you can link it instead of defending it yourself.

What do mods actually do day to day?

Nothing, mostly. A user posts their code in your verification thread or sends it to modmail; the bot checks it and sets the flair you configured. Edge cases that need a closer look go to Flairproof review, not to your modmail. Your dashboard shows everything the bot did.

What does the bot see and touch?

The app asks only for what it uses: reading comments for codes, setting and removing user flair, and replying if you keep replies on. It runs on Reddit's own Devvit platform, so its permissions are enforced by Reddit, not promised by us.

Which checks fit our sub?

Net worth tiers for FIRE-style communities, career and income signals for high-earner subs, and employer checks for professional subs. You choose which tiers earn flair in your sub and what the flair says, per tier, from the dashboard.

What if we stop using it?

Uninstall the app and everything stops. Flair the bot set stays unless you remove it. Your dashboard data is counts and public usernames, nothing you need back.

EVERY SUB IS PUBLICLY AUDITABLE

Each participating subreddit gets a public stats page: active verifications, revocations, and impersonation attempts blocked. Counts only, no usernames. When someone asks "who is this third party?", link them to your sub's page and let the numbers answer.
